Are there coverages you are missing on your home policy? There may be all sorts of coverage that you think is included on your home policy that’s not. It’s best to know about what’s missing and why you should think about adding them. This will allow you to have more coverage in those “what if” scenarios that happen more often than people think.
Valuable Items Coverage. Diamond rings, estate jewelry, high-end art, and other items may not be included within your standard home policy. If you have a lot of valuable items, you want this added coverage so you don’t have to worry about being denied a claim.
Host Liquor Liability. When you serve alcohol at your home, there is always the possibility of someone becoming so intoxicated that they hurt themselves or get behind the wheel and hurt someone else. If you are going to serve wine or anything else, this coverage may be a necessity.
Identity fraud. Your home policy could have identity fraud coverage. If someone gets ahold of your personal information, they could wreak havoc on your finances – and you cannot allow for something like this to happen. The coverage is not expensive and can ultimately save you a lot of money.
Water Back-up. Water back-up can happen whether you’re on city or sewer water. If it happens, you want to make sure your home policy is going to cover the damage that it causes. It’s not included in most policies as a standard, so it has to be added.
Earthquake. This is a scary one because many home policies don’t cover for earthquake damage. If you were to be involved in an earthquake and your home is damaged, you wouldn’t be able to get any money from your homeowner’s insurance unless you have this additional coverage.
Take the time to look at what’s included in your Home Insurance policy and add the coverage that you need so you don’t have to worry about being denied a claim at any time, no matter what may happen.
